Finished.

Voila! I present the first painting I have started and finished in a month in a long, long time.
I am done. No question marks. No doubts. Done.
This is a statement that I can't usually make for years.

How do we know when pieces are finished? With the pots there is a definite ending. When the whole piece is carved it is done. But a painting is so ephemeral...so vague....so squishy. I always struggle to know when to let it be done. I have ruined many a painting not recognizing when the painting had had enough.
This one just said it. I'm done.

Isn't it a treasure to have them speak to you? Maybe it is a deep listening that develops, because this piece is definitely done. she stands confidently. Well done!

I LOVE this Leanne. Such beautiful clear colours and the imagery...the hand, the roots. This is my favourite painting so far. Just beautiful!

Thanks JackY!!!!!!! You made my day.

Hey Grrl,
It is great when they let you know when to stop. Maybe I just need to listen harder?

This is amazing! I love her roots, and I love her reaching from her head. She's killer.

Perfect!Love the roots. It looks like quite a large painting.
I also love the quirkiness of poor dusky seaside sparrow.

Knowing when to end, when to not touch that brush or redraw that line -- that in itself is an art form. Beautiful painting. What does she say to you?

This is a lovely painting Leanne. You have such a unique style. How will you frame her?
