More Treemakers

Here is a bigger bottle form that I am making for a group of bottles that will go to the Greenhill Winter Show this December. This piece is 26 inches tall and around12-14 inches across. These new bottles are so much fun to make as I can build much higher than I could throw. Soon I want to make some forms that are life size and build kilns around them to fire them. (ps. got the idea from Mike Sandford, potter extraordinaire from Elon University) HMMMMM....can't wait till January, my vacation month....

Life size will be brilliant! This one is pretty big. I love the stories you carve onto your pots and of course the birds are my favourites.

I really hope to make some life sized ones. I am aiming high! We'll see if I make it.

Is this another coil bottle??? Looks amazing and I love the size...I wish I lived closer...I would love one of your bottles. As Robyn says, they tell a story and I love your carving.

Wow, I CAN'T WAIT to see your life size pieces! I hope you will share how you build your kiln around them? As you know, I'd love to build some huge pieces myself but I'm limited by kiln space at class.

These pieces are great too! It's hard to imagine size from a photo isn't it? So I'm glad you included measurements. I've been thinking of doing some sgraffito on tiles again...

Hey Cynjon,
Thank you so much! I do ebay almost every week. My ebay name is pottingshed. I also have an etsy store that is sitting empty but should have some work in it this week.

Thank you Jacky! this is a coil pot. Most of the large building I do is coiled. That method seems the easiest for me for building large and fast.
I wish you lived closer too so we could get together and do art! I so love your work!

Hey Lynne, Can you see me waving from here! Thank you sweet woman yourself!

Hey Un D, I have missed talking to you over the internet!
If I ever get to making some life sized pieces I will definitely share. I am getting an I Flip....video recorder this week so that I can post demonstrations on building and throwing. I'll let you know when I do.

We'll see Cynthia....I am aiming high but how far I get....hmmmmm

Thank you so much Gwen!

I notice you said you coil build when you want to build large and fast? I find coiling takes me ages because I have to let the item set up every few coils. Is it because you have a few items on the go at the same time? I should do that really. I usually just do some dishes while I'm waiting!!
