I was still inspired yesterday when I was working in the studio by Bellini and his beautiful painting of Madonna and Child.
I wanted to see how the image from my sketch book would translate into clay.
Here is the final result.
This is a Bellini Painting that is as close as I could find to the one I sketched in London. I could not find the exact painting but this one is almost there.
Here is my drawing.
And finally the clay translation.
Update:
Out of the kiln this morning, the plate glazed.

Oooh - NICE!
Wow! Thank you so much everyone! All of you just made my day...week!!
Hey Eero,
this technique is called sgraffito or the slang spelling is scraffito.
I looked it up to make sure I had the traditional spelling right and there is a lot of really nice pieces out there to look at....
I sell a good many of my pieces but just as easily I have many that are harder to sell. Especially the pieces I like the most. They usually end up in my personal collection (in the attic).
Have a great day everyone.
Thanks for boosting my creativity and making me smile.
Leanne

Wonderful, the addition of the words I like very much.
It's great! I like the back just a little more than the front - especially the hands that go around the sides.
Oh my goodness. This is beautiful !
Wow... I love your clay translation (especially the hands!)
